Adding up the courses the Princess ordered, it would have cost a total of $28.28 (with 18% gratuity) and mine would have cost $33.00. For Le Bistro on Norwegian Escape, as well as all of our other specialty dining, we made reservations in advance using MyNCL account. We also pre-purchased a 6 night specialty dining package. Le Bistro is one of Norwegian’s signature upscale restaurants serving up French cuisine and can be found on numerous Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) ships. Being only our second cruise on an NCL ship, we decided to try this restaurant in addition to some of the other specialty offerings onboard the Escape.

Make sure to order our famous Parmesan truffle fries. Dine on Italian classics prepared using the finest ingredients at La Cucina. Or explore a new wave of flavor with a fresh take on old-world fare at Onda by Scarpetta. Feel free to tantalize your taste buds when you choose Free Specialty Dining with Norwegian's Free at Sea.
We, personally, don't like the Cagney's steak house because of service and food issues which seem to be common ships across the NCL fleet (we cruise multiple times a year). This pub-style venue offers a relaxing atmosphere where you can sip on a cold pint, watch your favorite sports on TV, or shoot a game of pool while waiting for your meal to arrive. Top picks at O'Sheehan's include the English Style Fish N' Chips, O'Sheehan's Burger, and the Chicken Pot Pie.

Freestyle Dining provides dining choices that satisfy even the pickiest eater in the family. Grab a burger hot off the grill or sit down for a four-course meal. You'll find more dining options than days of your cruise, and you're free to enjoy them all on your own schedule. This delicious Asian-Latin fusion cuisine served tapas style is perfect for sharing. Food Republic is open for lunch on sea days and dinner nightly. When it comes to variety of activities, Escape is a winner.
These Profiteroles consisted of a scoop of fresh vanilla ice cream sandwiched between two layers of the light, airy Choux pastry dough. Topped off with a hefty drizzle of chocolate sauce, each bite is the perfect combination of sweetness. So, while sharing this dessert with others is a possibility, you may want them all to yourself.
The Atrium Cafe and several restaurants offer specialty coffees like lattes and cappuccinos. These drinks are extra, even if you have the Ultimate Beverage Package. If you are like us, you will need your coffee fix at least a few times during the cruise, so budget wisely. Norwegian Escape has three main dining rooms that share the same menu, and each offer rotating menus. For an extra fee, designated Chef's Signature Dishes can be paired with selected wine recommendations at lunch and dinner.
With 28 bars and restaurants onboard, most people will have to sail twice to try out everything. Everyone will be able to find something that appeals. An incredible brew pub that feels so genuine you'll forget you're on a ship?
Savor traditional Italian by choosing from several starters, main courses -- including a whole menu section dedicated to pasta and risotto – and, of course, dessert. The space, which overlooks the atrium, is divided into two areas (a larger bar section and a smaller dining section), but the food and drink menus are the same. In the dining section, tables and booths are available, and it's significantly quieter than the bar area. The comfort food-style fare is pretty average when it comes to quality; the plus is the venue is open 24 hours a day. Other venues getting makeover for Aqua include the Surfside Cafe buffet and Mediterranean seafood option Palomar as well as the Penrose Bar and Waves Pool Bar. The Whiskey Bar and Belvedere Bar are also migrating to new spaces on the ship.
Even the top decks of the ship are bold, with a ropes course and four water slides that are sure to make your heart race. Wanting to try something that I hadn’t already eaten this cruise, I was debating between the veal and the duck options. After the waiter explained how the duck was served, I opted for the veal medallions. In retrospect, I guess I should have gone with something else as they did not have much flavor.
When boarding the ship you will have options to eat at the complementary locations Garden Cafe, O’Sheehan’s, Taste and Savor. I find the buffet area chaotic the first day and Taste and Savor are good but would take too long for my kids that are itching to get to the action. Enjoy a taste of Spain's cuisine at this lively tapas bar.
One show that's consistent is "Wine Lovers the Musical," a comedic afternoon lunch theater and wine-tasting experience, held on select afternoons. You'll want to book Teppanyaki early, as it's sold out most nights. The hibachi-style restaurant is more like a show, with the chef as the entertainment, and you -- the diners -- as the willing participants.
